The People Closest To God Know Better Than To Let Others Worship Them

31 Aug

Acts 14:8-15 – In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

11 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13 The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15 “Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

Here is another example:

Revelation 19:9-10- Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”  10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Many times you see people clowning around bowing down and pretending to worship someone saying they are not worthy.  It’s nothing to clown around about.  The Lord takes very seriously this issue.  Here we don’t worship Him enough and then people will go out of their way to worship idols or others.

We do have a Jealous God.  He has given us all we will ever need.  He wants to be loved and worshipped by His creation that has a free will.  HE IS WORTHY!  Praise Him all that you can and when you can.

Forgive As The Lord Forgave You

30 Aug

Colossians 3:12-14 – 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

We need to draw our strength from Him.  Loving and forgiving those who have upset you doesn’t come naturally.  But it’s only by forgiveness (of God) that we have the opportunity for the free gift of salvation.  God is Love.  Loving and forgiving makes things better for all of us.

Philippians 3:7-11

28 Aug

Philippians 3:7-11 – 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Paul reminds us that the best we can do is concentrate on Jesus and do our best to live like the Lord’s example.  If Jesus wanted us to live in luxury and for ourselves, I believe that would have been His example, but it wasn’t.

Matthew 16:24 – 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

The example was to put the God first, reach out and love others and show them the way so they may find salvation.

Series Of Earthquakes In Southern CA

27 Aug

We we’re down in Anaheim and had gone to bed when the Yorba Linda 4.5 quake hit at about 11:23 PM on August 8th.  My wife hadn’t been through one before and it wasn’t very big, but it was only 5 miles away from the epicenter.  She said, “What should we do?”  I rolled over and told her to go back to bed.  I let her know that earthquakes come and go, they’re not warnings of something to soon hit that’s bigger.

Ironically I’m looking online and twice this last month another earthquake almost the same size did hit nearby.  They were bigger than an aftershock.  Yesterday Brawley, CA had a 5.3 followed up by a 5.5 only less than an hour a half later.  August 11th, there were two quakes in Ahar, Iran 11 minutes apart that we’re 6.4 and 6.2.  However, we only had a couple of aftershocks the next day we couldn’t even feel, so I didn’t have to eat my words that night.

There was also a large quake in El Salvador of 7.4 yesterday or even today by the UTC clock used to tell the time.

Almost everyone who knows bible prophecy knows it that earthquakes are one of the significant signs of his coming.  They are like birth pangs.  They will happen closer together and more intense as the time of His coming approaches.

Matthew 24:7 –7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

God Cares About The Little Things

24 Aug

If you believe that God only cares about the big crises’ in your life and not the small things, you probably don’t have a close relationship with the Lord.  Our God cares about everything in our lives.  He loves us and never wants you to feel like He’s too busy.  He wants a daily communicative relationship with you.  Not a long distance check in when you have finally mucked things up.

Six Billion, Seven Billion, Ten Billion people, it doesn’t matter.  If he knows how many hairs we all have on our head, He has times for us all day long.

Matthew 10:30 – 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

A daily walk is what we are supposed to have with our Lord.  He wants you to bring all situations on your mind.  He wants to talk with you throughout the day.  God is the ultimate multi tasker.

If We Claim To Be Without Sin; We’re Making Him Out To Be A Liar

23 Aug

1 John 1:8-10 – 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

There might be some pretty nice people out there, but I haven’t met anyone without sin.  As a society who has drifted away from God, many people don’t even know what God considers sin anyway.  They know what they consider sin and that is what counts.

Jesus came to die for our sins.  God in the form of the Son, dying on the cross, is the only purification from death from our sins.  He knows we are sinners.  It’s a free gift.

So why doesn’t everyone want a free gift that will bring them back to the Lord?

Because since the beginning there has been an enemy roaming out there with his demon followers convincing others that they can be like God and be the God of their own lives.  It started with Eve and hasn’t stopped.  Rebellion is a spirit.  We have a free will and God doesn’t want it any other way.  What one does with their free will is which side they choose to be on.  It determines what they will do in the spiritual war that we are all a part of.  We’re the playing field.  God wants us to come home, Satan wants us to rebel.

The problem is most people have no idea how high the stakes are.  Choose God and start reading His love letter for all our lives who want Truth.

Faith Is So Important In Trusting God

21 Aug

Galatians 3:5 – 5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?

Our strength in the Lord isn’t because of our goodness or strength.  It comes from knowing the Lord.  It’s about trusting in Him and knowing the best result will come about.  It might not always be what we think it should be, but He knows our needs.

Pray to the Lord with each other and know that He is God.  Pray that His will be done.  Have faith and know it will happen the way it is suppose to happen.  We make mistakes, God doesn’t make mistakes.

Verses That Remind Us How We Should Live

20 Aug

2 Corinthians 5:14-17-14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

We get out of sync or away from God’s will when we don’t heed to these verses.  Crime happens when someone is being selfish.  What happens when someone steals food because their hungry?  Then it’s a crime someone hadn’t fed them before hand.

If we all live to serve then everyone’s needs get met.  When we live to serve ourselves and a few others, many needs get stepped on.

We need to always strive and do the best we can to seek God as none of this comes naturally without the Spirit of the Lord guiding us.

Boast Not Of Yourself

17 Aug

Today’s post is inspired by the daily scripture on Bible Gateway.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18 – 17 But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

For a bunch of individuals who believe it’s only about us and our preferences, they’re wrong.  We are given a free will, but that is to freely choose to love the Lord and live for Him.  God is the center of the universe not ourselves.  The devil wants you to believe it’s all about you.  He wants you to believe you can be your own master.  Not because he cares about you, but because he knows it’s contrary and against what God wants for His creation.  He rebelled and misery loves company.  Not to mention that since he has a plan and wants to be like the Most High, there will be a day people on earth will be forced to worship him or die.

As it turns out I didn’t speak much on boasting, but more on why people boast on their own behalf.

We’re fallen.  God loves us.  Satan hates you.  Read God’s Word and do the best to follow our Lord.

There Isn’t A Strong Family Without A Strong Woman

16 Aug

Proverbs 14:1 – The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

Point blank.  I don’t know of one strong, well maintained, Godly living family out there that doesn’t have a strong God fearing, God loving woman as the heart of it.

So what does that tell you?  Women stay strong.  Oh I’m not talking about role reversal, woman’s lib, or the poison that is destroying this country.  I’m talking about knowing the Word, calling your husband’s or the loving males out, if they are not following God’s Word.

We were made to have roles on this earth.  The devil has had a hay day destroying the families of America.  That spirit has been belittling the important jobs of a Woman being the utmost important glue to the household.

What happens when a nation stops following the Word of God?  It becomes lost, disoriented, and is doomed to go from being strong into being in shambles.

For the women of God please stay God fearing and strong.  To the men out there, encourage them to do so.  If you looking for a special woman to spend the rest of your life with, remember she will either get you closer to the Lord, or literally sink your ship.  Unfortunately when children are involved they become part of the spiritual casualties.  We are responsible for all of our actions so live for the Lord and live wisely.

Women don’t settle for an ungodly man if you’re not married yet.  Pray for the right person and trust in the Lord.
