Quote – A.W. Tozer

Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically
tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become unity conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship.  Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. The whole church of God gains when the members that compose it begin to seek a better and a higher life.

Philippians 2:1-5 - 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

The closer we draw near to the Lord as Christians, the closer we as Christians will draw closer to each other.  What are those things that followed verse 5?

Philippians 2:6-7 – 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Who does the world look up to?  The one who has servants or the one who is a servant?  He truly is not from this world is He?  Yet when you look at the one who selflessly gives to others and denies themselves, you know in your heart that it is the correct way we all should be.
