What Will Our Resurrection Body Be Like? – Rapture

18 May

Does the Bible give us any indication of what our resurrected body is supposed to be like?

Philippians 3:20-21 – 20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

It says that the Lord Jesus Christ will transform our lowly current body to be like His glorious body.

When is this supposed to happen?

1 John 3:2-3 – 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

When does the Church have Christ appear to them?

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

So even though to be absent from the body is to be present in the Lord, the dead will still meet the Lord in the air.  When is this?  At the Rapture.  That is when the Church that is still living meets the Lord when he appears.

It’s at that time our bodies become like His glorious body.  The perishable will put on imperishable.

1Corinthians 15:52-54 – 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

What was the glorious body of Jesus like?  We know He had the power to appear at will.

John 20:19 – 19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

He also appeared for Thomas a week later in a locked room.  So the body will be able to disappear and appear, yet it isn’t a ghostly body.

Luke 24:37-39 –   37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

Just after this happened, we find out that this body will also be able to eat.

Luke 24:40-42  40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence.

This should not surprise us.  How else would we be able to enjoy the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Revelation 19:9 –9Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

This body is dying.  This world is getting worse and becoming more evil as the Day of the Lord draws nearer.  Invest into your future.  You are everyday, one way or another.

Why the Rapture? – New Body

04 May

Next on the radar I’m going to write on why the rapture?

I believe there are a few different reasons.  The first one I will be writing on is we are going to have a new body.

1Corinthians 15:50-54 –  50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.

We’re a sinful fallen creature.  We began to die at the time of our birth.  This happened because of the fall in the Garden of Eden.  God couldn’t allow a sinful, fallen, evil creature like man to live forever once he fell.  So he was no longer allowed to eat from the Tree of Life.

This body is not going to enter Heaven the way it is now.  However, if Jesus is your Savior and King, you’re going to receive a new body.  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.  That’s fast.  They say that is about .11 of a second.

This body is corrupted.  It needs to put on incorruption.  In fact that’s what the King James Version uses instead of perishable and imperishable.

1 Corinthians 15:53-54 – 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

It’s not just perishable but corrupted.  It doesn’t take a private investigator to know our thinking is corrupted, not of God, and this body is deteriorating.

Those that have died already are waiting for their resurrection bodies.  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  Jesus told the thief on the cross next to Him, today you will be with Me in paradise.  However, the dead in Christ are still waiting for their resurrection body.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 – 13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

The dead are raised and then bam, we’re right there just after.

If Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you’re going to receive a perfect resurrected body to go through eternity.  You’re not going to be a ghost, playing a harp on a cloud.  It’s time to get excited and start putting your effort into Jesus and not into a corrupted fallen world.

The Rapture – What Is It?

27 Apr

I’m going to write multiple posts on the rapture.  However, you will see a lot of the same scriptures being used in the posts.  I can’t really nurse them out to make multiple posts and still be able to explain what it is I am trying to get across.

The first post on the rapture I want to do is simply, what is the rapture?

If you’re like me in the beginning, I didn’t have a clue.  My wife was giving me a rundown on it about 19 years ago and I looked and stared at her thinking what planet are you from?  She was laughing as she was staring at the look on my face.

Guess what?  I had been saved for 12 years at that time and never heard one person point out the rapture to me before she did.  Yet it was there in black and white, along with everything I hadn’t studied.

The rapture is the snatching away of the believers that are still on earth when Jesus comes to call those up to heaven and those bodies from the grave.

I know, I know, do do do do do do do do – that’s my best Twilight Zone.

I plan to do this post – What is it?

Another on rather I believe the timing is before the tribulation, during, or after?

Why the Rapture?  And I’m sure there will be others as I go.

What are the scriptures that best describe the rapture of the church?

1 Corinthians 15:51-53 –  51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

The word rapture is a description of the snatching away you read in the scriptures above.  The word rapture itself is not used in the bible.

Well I can’t tell you everything about the rapture in one post.  One it would be too long a read for most.  Two I would be getting away from my short daily inspiration theme.   Three, “Hey I can’t be writing about something every day and use all the material in one post.”  🙂

So keep checking in for more inspiration and Bible prophecy.
