Godless Destroy With Their Mouth

07 Jul

Proverbs 11:9 – 9 With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor,
but through knowledge the righteous escape.

Godless people destroy the people around them by leading them astray.  That’s happening around us in all forms today.  When I was younger I was allowed to watch mostly anything I wanted.  I was influenced by the fun party movies growing up.  They made it look attractive, fun, and exciting.  Most party movies don’t show the terrible consequences that follow shortly after.  They don’t show the dead end.

That’s the way it is with all sin that is being peddled by those who don’t know God or are adverse to Him.  God is very serious though when it comes to those that spew evil from their lips and dissuade others from coming to Him.

Matthew 18:5-7 – 5 “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7 “Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!

Knowledge is what will help the righteous escape.  That knowledge is that of the Lord.  Your Bible, God’s Word, is where that knowledge is available.  It’s called the Living Word for a reason.  It isn’t just that it is alive for us today, but because it will allow others to live if we share it and can get them to read it.

With their mouth the godless destroy.  There are words of life and their are words of death.  Choose to study the Word everyday that you can and choose life.

Galatians 5:1

06 Jul

Galatians 5:1 – 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Ironic isn’t it.  The devil and evil spirits every day try to convince you that doing your own sinful thing is what makes you free.

As it turns out, freedom comes in the way of accepting Christ and having our sins forgiven.

Satan doesn’t want you to know the real slavery comes from being controlled by your sinful nature.  If you don’t think you’re being controlled by these things try giving them up.

The bigger problem many times isn’t rather you can give them up, but the fact you don’t want to and they are contrary to what the Lord wants.

We need to change our “want to”.  We need to read the Word of God and change it to “what it needs to be.”

We were made by the Lord, so don’t think that those things we are supposed to be are that alien to us.  We just have to get close to God and Christ and then it sinks in.  There’s your missing link.  It isn’t some Neanderthal, but the Holy Spirit which is disconnected until we connect Him back in through Jesus.

Since we are all sinners, it doesn’t come naturally.  It comes by allowing the Holy Spirit in to dwell.

Free yourself from your sinful nature and discover your new eternal destiny with a loving Savior and Lord in Jesus Christ.

God Makes The Rules, Yet Sinful Men Won’t Accept It

05 Jul

Deuteronomy 7:1-4 – 1 When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites
and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you— 2 and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally.  Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. 3 Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, 4 for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.

Almost everyone who doesn’t know God well really struggles with Him sending in the Israelites to destroy nations that are in the Land.

Why was he sending them in?  Because they were evil!

Why were they evil?  Because they were serving other Gods and doing detestable things in God’s sight.

What is evil?  It’s the opposite of what God has made to be good.  God is good.  The further away from
God, the more evil things get.

So who struggles with this?  I’ll tell you.  Arrogant people who will decide themselves what evil is.  They will make that decision and will not be told by anyone what good and evil are.  They believe to go in and
destroy a nation that isn’t serving God is evil.  Who are they to say?

Look what God says in the scripture above.  Do not intermarry with them for they will turn your sons away to serve other Gods.

Then what?  The Lord’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.

WOW!  It looks like God cares and takes this pretty serious.  So those who completely disregard His Word or look at it as if it is evil, it doesn’t look like he will be a big fan of that come judgment time.

God makes the rules.  He God, we creation.  However, with the fall came the prideful arrogant gene.

Who wants to make amends with God?  I do.  I hope you do to.  You don’t want to ultimately be on the wrong side.  If you don’t know Him and want to receive His redemption, please go to the page on
the right hand side of the blog and it will walk you through how to do so.

Quote – D. L. Moody

04 Jul

A man ought to live so that everybody knows he is a Christian… and most of all, his family ought to know.
Dwight L. Moody

Let your light shine.

Luke 8:16 –  16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he
puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.

Mark 8:38 – 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Our relationship with the Lord should be the most important thing in our lives.  The most important
thing in anyone’s life is revealed when you know them.

Your family is your first mission field and is your biggest responsibility when it comes time to standing in front of the Lord.

Psalm 113 – Part 5

01 Jul

We are finishing up our Praise the Lord week.

I like to repeat things, because I myself am one of those people that have things stick after I have heard or read them more than once.

Good habits are formed by making yourself do them for a period of time.  Bad sinful habits seem to come easy.

You can’t out give God in any area of your life.  The one thing He wants is your heart and obedience.  He can’t force you to do that.

So what’s the one thing you can give God who has just about everything?

That’s right, YOU!

Psalm 113:9- 9 He settles the barren woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.

   Praise the LORD.

We’ve seen the Lord bless the barren woman before with Sarah and Elizabeth.  The Lord even came in on a virgin birth to bypass the sinful gene passed down by Man.

Nothing is too great for our Lord to accomplish when it comes to miracles such as this.  He is the Creator.  He created the whole universe out of nothing.  That’s why we need to trust and obey.

We have a loving God who just wants us to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.  On the flip side we don’t want to be on the wrong side of our God.

Luke 12:4-5 –  4 “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

God loves us and wants no one to perish.

2 Peter 3:9 – 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Praise the Lord of the entire universe!  He is worthy!

Psalm 113 – Part 4

30 Jun

This is a week of praising the Lord.  A reminder that you cannot think of God too much.  You can’t praise Him too much.

Give Him thanks all day long and glorify His name.

Psalm 113:7-8 – 7 He raises the poor from the dust
   and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
8 he seats them with princes,
with the princes of their people.

I write a lot about chasing after the world and the riches of this life a lot.  That is what I feel the Lord wants me to hit on a lot, because it has never been so widespread and affected so many before in one generation.  This generation as a whole in America is either chasing after it or spending their time either complaining that they aren’t allowed to get it or they want it and just dream about it.  All three cases are warned about throughout the Bible.

Don’t get me wrong though.  The Lord likes us to have our needs met.  He likes blessing us with comforts.  The Lord takes delight in the above scriptures.

What’s the difference?

The difference is where our heart is.

It’s kind of like your children.  You want them to do well and live comfortably, but do you want them to become so involved in their careers that they never made contact with you?  Do you want them choosing the almighty dollar over your love?

I’m reminded after the athlete that does well.  The television camera gets on him and what is the first they say?  Just being a Christian and seeing them giving my Lord the glory for their success makes my spirit jump with joy.  Then on the flip side, it can be as bad as Ali.  Stating he is the greatest and no credit is given to anyone.

The Lord wants to provide you with the blessings, but first and foremost He wants to give your love and devotion first.

Matthew 6:31-33 –31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

The Lord cares about us more than we can possibly imagine.  He certainly isn’t going to allow anyone to give their total devotion to Him and not have that individual taken care of in the big scheme of things.

Serve Him and Praise Him all throughout the day.

Psalm 113 – Part 3

29 Jun

All week long we are concentrating on praising the Lord.  The more we concentrate the more habit forming it becomes.  Isn’t it that way with all of our habits?  We are creatures of habit and change is difficult.

My wife married a pretty spoiled boy who had a mother who did almost all the chores around him.  Those habits are definitely ones you don’t break overnight.  Most bad habits come pretty easy.

We need to start good habits.  If you’re not praying before meals, then start making a new habit.  If you’re not praying before going to bed at night, make it a point to every night.  Pretty soon you’re doing it all day long in little spurts.

Those become times of PRAISE.

Psalm 113:4-6 –  4 The LORD is exalted over all the nations,
   his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the LORD our God,
the One who sits enthroned on high,
6 who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?

Who is like our God?

No one!

He is the Creator of everything.  That doesn’t just include things or creatures, but emotions, all the rules of law (scientific, justice, etc.) everything and its function.

That’s beyond understanding, but still awe inspiring.

God looks down at the Heavens and Earth.  He made it all.

Yet most people have no time for Him in this country.

That’s a spiritual problem.  One we need to break.  In ourselves and the best we can for those around us.

Praise the Lord!

It never goes unnoticed.  I believe there is a record of everything and these will be the records you will be the most happy to see.

Psalm 113 – Part 2

28 Jun

We are doing a week of nothing but concentrating on praising the Lord.  Not just His holy name but praising also just praising our God, our Lord, our Savior.

I’ve said it before in prior posts.  What kind of a relationship do you have with anyone if you put NO time into it?  Be honest, you don’t have one at all.

Take that serious and realize we don’t want to stand in front of our Lord with no relationship.  We don’t want others that proclaim His name to stand in front of Him with no relationship.  We need to encourage each other to stay in tuned with Him daily and walk with our Lord.

Psalm 113:3 – 3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.

That’s everybody.

It is pure and simple that everybody needs to serve and praise the Lord.  Not a Lord, not a Lord that has been sincerely made up, not a Lord different than the one of that has a Son name Jesus, who has paid they way of redemption for all that accept Him as Lord.

I, right now could make up some weird philosophy and sincerely put it together and the world would tell you to respect it.  Especially if it was politically correct and doesn’t step on others people’s toes or acknowledged it was the only way.  That should worry you.  It also should make everyone aware that anyone could have or can do that.  Just because someone sincerely chooses to accept and serve that doesn’t make it truth.

We all need to seek the truth, not just what tickles our fancy.

The Lord wants praise from everyone under the sun.  That’s’ everyone.

Psalm 113 – Part 1

27 Jun

The Lord has put on my heart that we need to focus on praising Him.  This week we will read a couple of verses from Psalm 113 each day and focus on praising our Lord.

Psalm 113:1- 1 Praise the LORD.

Praise, O servants of the LORD,
praise the name of the LORD.

We’ve gotten too busy in America.  It doesn’t even matter what we’re doing.  It can be work, activities, or straight leisure.  We’ve gotten too busy.

Psalm 113:2-2 Let the name of the LORD be praised,
   both now and forevermore.

What do you give a God who has everything?

Let’s start with the one thing we we’re created for.  Praising Him and having fellowship with Him.  All with our free will.

Ah yes, we’ve been through a sinful fall and the choice of seeking and serving God after that is huge.  He absolutely loves it.  Look at the history of the world after the fall.  It’s not hard to see that the narrow road is not the one being chosen by most humans.

Matthew 7:13-14- 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

You can’t out give God.  You can’t give Him too much of your time or your heart, which is the very thing He wants more than anything.

We Seek To Worship Because That’s How Were Made

24 Jun

Psalm 135:15-18 –  15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.  16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; 17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.  18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

Why would a man worship an idol?  Why would he worship a stone?  Why would he worship a piece of wood?

Yet people of done it since the fall.  The reason is because we are made to worship.  Some worship others around them or they worship themselves.

Here we have a God that is one million times plus greater than we are and yet people will choose to worship something created that isn’t even made as wonderful as we are.

Make no mistake most people are seeking something to worship.  We may have a lot of wealthy arrogant atheists getting out their message but most of the world is still in the process of searching for something.

Look at Russia.  They were suppressed and atheism was nationally taught.  As soon as missionaries were allowed to go in (actually from all religions) they were very ready to accept something to worship.

We’re made to worship.  So let’s quit chasing after other God’s and our own selfish wants and seek with all our heart our Creator God and King!  Choose the Son Jesus and choose life.
